Lead MWD Field Engineer

As a Lead MWD Field Engineer you will manage well site survey equipment and prepare reports. Field Engineers verify data quality, maintain MWD equipment, produce field reports, and represent Gordon Technologies on location.  The MWD Field Engineer will assist in the drilling of the customer’s well to its engineered plan.  Field Engineers will report on drilling job progress and assist with other client service needs.

A successful MWD Field Engineer is a very self-sufficient and adaptable individual. 

Experience

  • Three year minimum Measurement While Drilling experience.
  • Expert knowledge of Measurement While Drilling applications.
  • General knowledge in Noralis, Polaris and Digi drill acquisition & logging software.
  • Expert knowledge of drilling operations.
  • Good communication and people skills.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assure company policies, procedures, and HSE standards are followed.
  • Monitor and maintain MWD surface and downhole systems.
  • Monitor and make recommendations in trouble shooting surface systems and down hole tools when problems
  • occur.
  • Ensure quality surveys are being acquired during the drilling process.
  • Effective communications daily with Company Representative, Drilling Engineer Directional Driller and MWD
  • coordinator.
  • Communicates with geologist as needed for target changes and landing points.
  • Produce and submits accurate Daily Reports, Survey Reports, Incident Reports and Logs.
  • Assist in maintaining equipment inventory on location as well as shipping and receiving equipment.
  • Performs JSA’s when picking up laying down BHA’s and rigging up and down.
  • Attend pre-tour safety meetings.
  • Assist in completing end of well deliverables per company standard when job is complete.

Requirements

  • Subject to “on call” hours 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
  • Will be required to work out of town for extended periods of time.
  • Mathematical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Must have proficient computer skills.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must be team oriented and work well with others.
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Must have legal right to be permanently employed in the United States.

Preferred Skills & Knowledge

  • BS in Petroleum/Mechanical Engineering or Geology is preferred.
  • Rig experience is preferred.
Safety Training
  • PEC Safeland/Safegulf.
  • H2S when required.
  • Customer specific training when required (Safety & Hazard management).
Work Environment
  • At rig sites (Land, inland water, offshore).

Entry Level MWD Field Engineer

As an Entry-Level MWD Field Engineer with Gordon Technologies, you’ll gain hands-on experience in the energy industry while working directly at drilling sites and learning from experienced field professionals.

You don’t need prior MWD experience. We’ll provide comprehensive classroom training at the Gordon facility, followed by hands-on rig-site training under the guidance of an experienced Lead MWD Field Engineer.

What You’ll Do
As an MWD Field Engineer, you’ll help ensure our customers’ wells are drilled according to their engineering plans. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operate and manage MWD survey equipment at the well site.
  • Collect, monitor, and verify the quality of drilling data.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot MWD equipment.
  • Prepare accurate field and drilling reports.
  • Communicate with drilling crews, customers, and other personnel on location.
  • Monitor drilling progress and provide information to support the customer’s operation.
  • Represent Gordon Technologies professionally at the well site.
  • Work as part of a team to safely and efficiently complete drilling operations.
  • Follow all company, customer, and regulatory safety requirements.

The Field Lifestyle

Education
A bachelor’s degree in engineering, Engineering Technology, Geology, Geoscience, or a related field is preferred.
